Conversation: basically to represent when players start discussing things on the table. Combat: one idea expressed here is that combat may create more encounter checks to represent the noise of the combat. If players don't care about carefulness, they will use Fast Movement (Movement x100). Movement: this is not strolling, but represents careful exploratory movement through the dungeon (mapping, discussing which way to go.). This section contains a little more DnD rules references or ideas than other parts of the book so far. If an action is very short (just chatting a little or minor movement), then it is an incidental action that doesn't use the dungeon turn. Here Justin shows the most common actions that tend to take a bunch amount of time during a dungeon exploration. Also the track can help you do reminders for your players, like when you see half of the track of lamp has passed, you could say something like "your lamp flickers, you realize your oil seems half spent" or the like, which can help convey the passage of time without saying it has been 20 minutes, it has been 30 mintues. ![]() I have to admit this is not anything revolutionary, but I would lie if I said I hadn't struggled in the past with this type of thing, particularly light sources.
